I had the chance to hear Simon Sinek at a Leadership Summit last year. He’s smart, articulate and calmingly entertaining. This book makes you think about “why” we do/make/create anything and how those people and companies with strong “Why’s” do so much better than those without. Example after example of stories of companies that flourish with strong “why’s” like Apple and those that did not like Tevo. To be successful in your company, personal business and gain employee loyalty requires a strong “why”. People buy and follow because “why” you do what you do. Excellent book. This was an easy book to listen to as Reese reads it herself. She is about as southern as you get. Her book Whiskey in a Teacup reminds me of the value of traditions, family time, manners and teaching our children how to have conversations and respect for each other. You will find yourself reflecting on your own childhood traditions and, if you are like me, sad that you don’t do more.
She offers family games, recipes, and stories that her southern family experienced in their community. Simple things like the art of getting dressed!!! Workout clothes are for working out and sweating…..then you change! I love this! You will enjoy this book…plus some great southern recipes!

Your Day will become SO much more productive, inspired and goal-centered. Your mind will start to focus on your truth/goals and you be motivated to change the world. One day at a time. The trick is to stay accountable to yourself for 30 days.
It’s easy to get excited and start the first week. Then the weekend comes and you want to relax and sleep in, the next day you don’t complete your morning routine and then before you know it, it’s back to normal. You keep doing what you have done.
STOP!! Set your alarm. Use the steps and make a plan. A friend told me about this meditation app. I have not found anything this great until now. It’s wonderful for sleep, meditation, and focus. The sounds, voices, and background are soothing and create a relaxed state in minutes. The name is Insight Timer. I listen to a lot of meditation resources. THIS IS AMAZING. It’s a free download on iTunes….here’s a picture.

James Clear is my favorite author this month. He released a new book called Atomic Habits. The pre-sale sample was so great I recommended this before I even finished it! It was an easy read and I kept going back to reread sections over and over, it was extremely refreshing. He also creates a great newsletter, Facebook and LinkedIn posts. I am always impressed with the insights to healthy living. He offers great reminders to stay fit, sparking good habits and daily tips for self-improvement.
